Care for the Colorado River Corridor upstream from Moab and encourage collaborative relationships between river companies.
Make the Moab Daily section of the Colorado River tamarisk-free; exploit this by marketing the Daily as an opportunity to see the Colorado River as it should be – tamarisk free!
This initiative cares for the natural resources of our area, and encourages collaboration within the river company business sector through a project that benefits everyone.
Tamarisk eradication is very possible on this limited stretch of the river. Perhaps each river company could adopt one beach, as a way to start the project, and keep it tamarisk free. Each company could employ everyone within their company for 2 days per year, and the Moab Business Alliance dues could pay employees for the first 2 years of the project. After this, there will ideally be fewer tamarisks, and therefore, less work to do.
